Moving day

Six Weeks Before Move:

  • Call for moving estimates.
  • Call the Chamber Of Commerce and Visitors & Convention Bureau in your new town and get their new resident information packages.
  • Inventory all household items to be moved, and start packing NOW!
  • Remove all items from basement, storage sheds, attics, and plan a garage sale or charity donation for all items you don't want to move.
  • Start using things up that you can't move, like cleaning supplies and frozen food.
  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.
  • Complete U.S. Postal Service change of address forms and mail them to all applicable publications, stores and organizations.
  • Get copies of (or arrange for transfer at both ends of move) all school, medical, dental, veterinary, legal, and accounting records.
  • Contact insurance agents to transfer or cancel coverage.
  • If it's a company move, check with your employer to find out what moving expenses they cover.
  • Get a mail subscription for the local paper in your new location to familiarize yourself with the new community, its activities and issues.
  • Locate and obtain all automobile licensing and registration information.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

Three Weeks Before Move:

  • Make travel arrangements for family for moving trip, allow for unexpected delays and cash needs that often occur in moves and house closings.

Two Weeks Before Move:

  • Prepare auto(s) for trip to new home. Check tires and have vehicles serviced.
  • Terminate newspaper and other delivery services at old address.
  • Give away all plants you don't intend to move.
  • If you're moving out of a building with elevators, arrange with management for use of elevators on move day.
  • Schedule for appliance disconnects on moving day or the day before the move, if necessary.
  • Contact your moving company counselor to review and confirm all arrangements for your move.
  • Withdraw contents of any safe deposit boxes, return library books & rental video tapes, pick up any dry cleaning, etc.

  • Pack a box of items you will need immediately upon arrival at your new home and have movers put this box on last (clearly mark box as PACK THIS LAST or UNPACK THIS FIRST) or take it with you.
  • Have appliances disconnected and prepared for move.

~ Jessica & Timmy

Cathy Cooley & her team are fantastic. Michalina was absolutely wonderful, and always considered my children's opinions during our search. They are extremely responsive; if they don't immediately pick-up your call, email or text, they are back to you within minutes. They sold my house in a couple of days, then worked with me to find my next home. 100% available to show me houses, whether it was early morning or evening time. This is a professional team that gets the job done.

~ Bill Kolberg

Ms. Scorzelli is an excellent Realtor, she is friendly, responsive, diligent, and kind. Very approachable, she found me and my husband a beautiful home. Got us answers to the many questions we had. She was patient with us in making sure we understand what we were doing. Getting in touch with her was never a problem. At the end of our closing she made our day memorable and she worked to the very end. She provided us with great support. Excellent Realtor and experience like no other!

~ Naja & Kabanga

We were first-time home buyers in a crazy market last summer and we couldn't have picked a better person to help guide us through the craziness! Houses were getting multiple offers within days of being on the market and we were definitely stressed out. Michalina found us homes within hours of coming on the market and got us into see them immediately, which ultimately got us our perfect first house. She also was literally ALWAYS available to answer phone calls and texts with questions and my constant worries! We HIGHLY recommend Michalina to anyone looking for homes in the Capital region

~ Douglas Roether, Real Estate Investor

About a year ago my husband and I walked into a Real Estate office in Saratoga Springs. We were 'just looking.' We had the wonderful fortune to meet Michalina. She first just listened to what we were looking for. When she checked her listings there was only one home that met our criteria. Through the entire process that followed she never pushed us . . . but guided us - with her expertise . . . and caring. Michalina helped us not to buy a house . . . but a home.

~ Blaine and Lisa Edele

Michalina has assisted us several times with our real estate needs. She is very professional and knowledgeable; and made sure the process ran flawlessly each time. I would recommend her without hesitation

~ Chuck and Debbi Rath

"After working with 3 realtor's and getting nowhere I was told I would be working with another realtor from RealtyUSA, as the 1 realtor from there was very busy and wanted to give me someone who had more time for me. That is when I started working with Michalina, and I started to enjoy looking for a home. Michalina is a great realtor to work with, she listens and she cares about what you want. She made this first time experience for me a very good one. I only wish that I would have worked with her before the others. I will recommend Michalina to anyone that is buying and/or selling their home in the future. Thank you for making "house hunting" FUN!" Patty

~ Particia Goewey

More coming SOON! If you have worked with me and feel I worked hard for you, I would really appreciate a few words to share with potential clients. You can just email me and I will put on the website. THANKS SO MUCH!
